It's Time

It's time my love;
It's time for me to go.
It's time for me to join the army;
It's time for me to fight.

I'm doing it for my country;
I'm doing it for my friends.
I'm doing it for my family, my sweet;
I'm doing it for you.

I'm hoping you'll be proud;
I'm hoping I'll survive.
I'm hoping I'm brave, my dear;
I'm hoping to come back.

Don't think of that right now;
Don't try to stop me going.
Don't cry for long, my darling;
Don't, please don't look at me like that.

I'll always love you, my heart,
And I'll try like hell to return.
But if I were to die out there
Don't forget I'm always with you.

At The Olympics

How many millions are watching me
As I step out onto the floor?
Their noise is deafening me,
A perfect rhythm in my ears.

This is a chance in a lifetime
Which I am expected to grasp.
Everyone is staring at me
Demanding grace and perfection.

I'm the favorite they said
The so-called best in the world.
They don't or won't understand
I'm a perfectly normal gymnast.

But no more thinking now;
There's no more time.
It's my turn to perform
And earn a perfect ten.
